Adaptix welcomes MP as it celebrates landmark certification
Medical imaging innovator Adaptix welcomed Dr Scott Arthur, MP to its Edinburgh facility as part of a tour arranged by industry association AXREM (The Association of Health Technology Providers).
The visit came in the same week Adaptix secured CE certification for its breakthrough orthopaedic imaging system – the Adaptix Ortho350 – which will now enable it to commercialise its technology across European and UK healthcare markets.
Adrian Crockett, Chief Financial Officer at Adaptix, said: “We were pleased to welcome Dr Arthur and show him how our compact, mobile digital tomosynthesis (DT) systems can deliver fast, low-dose, high-resolution 3D X-ray imaging for a range of industries, from healthcare and veterinary to industrial non-destructive testing (NDT).
“As an MP, Dr Arthur has long championed investment in medical research and innovation to improve diagnostics and treatment for patients. With CE certification secured, we are delighted we can now bring this exciting digital technology to healthcare markets closer to home, enabling us to support NHS priorities set out in the 10-year plan by delivering advanced diagnostics closer to the point of patient care and in more community settings.”
Developed specifically for imaging upper and lower extremities, hands, elbows, shoulders, knees and feet – at a fraction of the radiation dose of traditional CT systems – the Adaptix Ortho350 system provides clinicians with clearer images than 2D X-rays, while digital acquisition and rapid image reconstruction help reduce repeat imaging and onward referrals, supporting better use of NHS capacity and resources
Adaptix already supplies its core 3D imaging technology to the veterinary and industrial NDT markets, as well as the US orthopedic market, so the CE certification marks a major milestone, opening up new human imaging markets across the UK and Europe.
Dr Arthur, MP said: “It was a pleasure to visit Adaptix’s Edinburgh offices last week. The staff displayed a real passion for their work and a product that is no doubt an impressive medical innovation. With the securing of their CE certification last week, I know this is an exciting time for the firm. I’m proud to have such skilled and potentially transformational work happening in Edinburgh South West.”
Sally Edgington, CEO at AXREM, said: “I was pleased to help initiate this timely visit, which provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the strength of UK med‑tech innovation.
“Adaptix’s achievement in securing CE certification is a significant milestone for the sector and it was valuable for Dr Arthur to see first‑hand how technologies like the Ortho350 can support NHS priorities by bringing advanced diagnostics closer to patients.”
